Richard's BMW E92 M3

Richard wanted a very aggressive sound for his beautiful M3, so we recommended a pair of Flo-Pro single-chamber mufflers to give his car an open sound while keeping a nice tone without the raspiness and popping that bottle-style resonators and mufflers might provide.

We custom-mandrel-bent Richard's cat-back exhaust using 2.5" 304SS tube, stainless steel hangers and polished stainless tips. We never use off-the-shelf X-pipes because they don't fit or look as nicely as our own custom-fabricated X-pipes. Richard's entire exhaust was TIG-welded for the highest quality and appearance.

This car already has a larger turbo and large air-to-air intercooler, so Ryan wanted an exhaust that would sound nice and flow well. After doing some research, he chose to use a pair of Remus mufflers along with a Vibrant spun cat and two Vibrant resonators to give the car a nice low tone.

We welded the cat at the end of the downpipe, and added a V-band flange assembly to connect the downpipe to the cat-back exhaust. We then custom mandrel-bent 2.5" 304SS tube for the midpipe, and fabricated a custom Y-pipe that splis the exhaust into two sections. After TIG-welding two more V-band flange assemblies and the polished stainless steel resonators, we mandrel-bent the tailpipes from 304SS and TIG-welded the mufflers with their integral tips. We finished the exhaust with custom stainless steel hangers and a stainless steel crossbrace. This exhaust has a very low tone and sounds great throughout the powerband!

The 4.2L V-8 powered Audi RS4s are such terrific cars, we weren't sure whether to place these pictures on our Touring Cars page, or on our Sports Cars page. When Collin was shopping for a new cat-back exhaust, he quickly realized that the standard exhaust kits were too tame. Since he wanted to give his car a more performance-oriented, open sound, he decided to have a custom exhaust built. We discussed in detail the type of sound he wanted, and we showed him pictures of the nice exhaust we had built for Andrew's S6 (below). Collin had seen a YouTube clip of an RS4 with Aero mufflers and loved the sound, so he decided to use those mufflers on his car.

The exhaust uses stainless steel tube and is fully TIG-welded. Like all of our X-pipes, this one is custom-fabricated in-house at Hanksville Hot Rods. We chose to use straight-through Magnaflow 4" round/14" long mufflers for a wide-open sound. We custom-mandrel-bent the exhaust from 2.5" 409 stainless steel tube, and fully TIG-welded the exhaust for high-end quality. We custom-fabricated the narrow X-pipe which fits nicely in the tight confines of the center exhaust and driveshaft tunnel.

He is planning to install a larger turbo, and asked us to fabricate a custom 3" exhaust. We installed a high-flow cat and muffler, and custom-mandrel-bent the exhaust for him. The new exhaust barely fits in the tight space above the rear crossmember, but it looks and sounds great, especially coupled with the whine of the turbo!

The new exhaust barely fits in the tight space above the rear crossmember, but it looks and sounds great, especially coupled with the whine of the turbo!
 

Ryan's Porsche Cayenne

Ryan likes his V-8 powered Porsche Cayenne, but it lacked that V-8 sound. He asked us to replace his stock muffler with freer-flowing mufflers to increase the flow and to give the Porsche a rumble. We recommended a pair of Magnaflow mufflers which would flow better without being too loud or providing noticeable resonance. To install the mufflers, we used 2 90-degree mandrel bends that were trimmed at the end of each bend, to make the tight turn from the stock muffler entry points to the inlets of the new mufflers. We then carefully removed the stock exhaust tips and welded them to the new mufflers, nicely filling the Cayenne’s factory bumper cutouts. Ryan chose to use the polished Magnaflow mufflers for a nicer look.

At idle, this exhaust sounds just as quiet as the stock exhaust did, although there is lower-toned rumble. However, when the accelerator is pressed, the exhaust opens up and gives the Cayenne the terrific sound of a European sports car.

He wanted a more open exhaust, but also wanted the ability to muffle it when necessary. We replaced his cat-back system with a straight pipe and stainless megaphone. At the flange where the megaphone bolts-on, we installed a Car Chemistry muffler insert which allows Brian to easily change the tone of the exhaust. The result is a great-looking, race-ready megaphone that can be toned down for the street.
