Brian's Lexus

Brian brought in a pair of very nice carbon fiber and stainless mufflers and asked if we could install them for him. We removed his existing exhaust from the Y-pipe back and custom-mandrel-bent new stainless steel tubes, then attached new hangers and welded his mufflers in place. The result is a much nicer-sounding and more aggressive-looking car.

He wanted a stainless steel performance exhaust for his Tiburon, which is raced at Bandimere in the sport compact class. We added a flange behind the cat, routed the stainless steel tube close to the body and over the rear axle, then welded a can-style muffler under the rear bumper. All welds were TIG-welded. Because the exhaust retains the catalytic converter and uses a resonator, it sounds throaty with very little raspiness.

Brett is building his RS to be a great time trial car, with a built turbocharged engine, road race suspension and rally-inspired bodywork. He asked us to fabricate a custom 3" stainless steel exhaust and wastegate downpipes.

We started by installing a Vibrant turbo-flex coupler to his aftermarket downpipe, then welded a metallic high-flow cat behind the flex coupler. We added a V-band flange assembly after the cat to allow the cat-back exhaust to be removed separately from the forward section of the exhaust, to make it more service-removeable if needed at the track. After the V-band flange, the exhaust tightly follows the contours of the body, giving the car as much ground clearance as possible. This is important in a time-attack car, since if the car goes briefly off the track there is less chance of damage to the exhaust. We added another V-band flange in front of the muffler.

In addition to the exhaust, we custom-mandrel-bent and TIG-welded two wastegate downpipes exiting under the car.

All of the exhaust tubes are 3" 304 stainless steel, and the
exhaust was fully TIG-welded.

Brian is a member of Colorado Stangs. Being a fan of performance Toyotas, he recently sold his Comp Prep SVO and bought this nice V8-powered SC400. After researching exhausts for this car, Brian asked us to custom-fabricate a new cat-back exhaust that would include an X-pipe crossover, remove the factory resonators and reuse the existing mufflers. Brian chose to use 2.5" aluminized tube for this exhaust.

After removing the factory cat-back exhaust from behind the rear o2 sensors, we added the new custom mandrel-bent tubes and then custom notched and fabricated the X-pipe. After the X-pipe, we routed the tubes under the rear axle and joined them to the factory muffler flanges. Since Brian has lowered his car, we fitted the tubes close to the body to maximize ground clearance. Even with the factory mufflers, this exhaust sounds great, with a nice burble at idle that opens up under power.

Dan wanted to give his Outback a nice sound, but did not want the booming tone with resonance that you often hear on the WRXs and STIs. He also did not want a large round can muffler. So, we suggested a Vibrant NA stainless steel muffler with integral polished tip. Wanting to keep the cost down but still allow the exhaust to flow well, Dan chose 2.5" aluminized mild steel tube. We attached the midpipe to the factory flange behind the cat, then custom mandrel-bent the pipe, routing it around the rear differential and upwards toward the muffler. Since the muffler is made from 304SS, we TIG-welded it to the pipe. We then fabricated custom hangers and TIG-welded them to the muffler as well. This exhaust looks great, but not too blingy, and sounds terrific.
