Toyota Land Cruisers and Lexus LX450 Exhausts

Mike's LX450

The old exhaust on Mike's Lexus had a broken hanger and some bad exhaust leaks, so he asked us to repair the leaks and to build a new performance exhaust. We diagnosed and repair two leaks where the existing cat pipes connect to the manifold, then built a new cat-back exhaust using 2.5" 409SS tube and a 5"x8"x18" long Magnaflow muffler. This new exhaust flows much better and has a nice rumble. The sound volume is nice and low for everyday driving.

We have worked on many off-road vehicles, but the Landcruiser remains the toughest 4x4 for exhaust fitment since the exhaust is routed over the frame in a very tight space. However, we have fabricated and installed custom exhausts on these before, so we were up to the challenge.

Michael asked that we reuse his existing muffler, adding a Magnaflow high-flow cat. We then welded custom mandrel bends to fit the exhaust over the frame, then routed it over the rear axle, tucking the tailpipe out of the way just in front of the rear bumper.

The exhaust now flows well, sounds great and has plenty of clearance over the frame and rear axle.

Slee Off-Road's Turbo Landcruiser

Slee Off Road specializes in off-road prep of Toyota Land Cruisers. This rig features a tall lift, sliders, a heavy-duty rear bumper rack, and a custom turbo. We installed a custom 3" stainless, mandrel-bent cat-back exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler. Space was tight under the Land Cruiser, and we custom-bent many mandrel bends for the installation.

A benefit of our in-house mandrel bender is that, when confronted by a difficult bend, we can walk over to our bender and create our own bends in our shop. This results in a nicer installation with fewer fabricated bends, and less cost to the customer since we don’t waste as much tube as other shops do when they are trying to fit pre-bent, purchased 90s and 180s.
